Functional Nutrition and Clinical Pyschoneuroimmunology
Holistic Whole Body Care
For those carrying the most.
When Health Becomes Complicated, The Whole Person Matters
If you’ve found your way here, chances are you or someone you love is dealing with a lot. You are dealing with the great mental and emotional load that often comes with feeling overwhelmed in life, facing a diagnosis, or having to care for someone who is ill.
As a Certified Functional Nutrition Counselor and Clinical Psychoneuroimmunolgist (PNI) with years of hands-on experience, Sharleen Garcia helps others understand what their bodies need the most, what is realistically possible, and talk through the physical and emotional challenges that we all face at some point when life gets hard.
Work with Sharleen
We are living through a remarkable moment. Artificial Intelligence is transforming how we work, learn, communicate, and access information. Technology can help us process enormous amounts of data, but it cannot replace the experience of sitting across from another person who understands what it feels like to be afraid, overwhelmed, exhausted, hopeful, uncertain, or simply human.
When we talk about health, we can easily reduce people to diagnoses, symptoms, lab results, statistics, or recommendations. But behind every medical history is a person. Behind every caregiver is a story. Behind every family navigating complex illness is a lived experience that deserves to be seen and understood.
I lead professional workshops, motivational talks, and consultations on a need basis. I want those who work with me to leave not only having learned something new, but having felt something, questioned something, and connected with the people around them in a different way.
Human Connection
What do I believe in? Creating spaces where people can look up from their screens, listen, share experiences, and remember the power of being together and being heard.
Compassion
Behind every diagnosis, statistic, professional role, or health challenge is a human being. I want to bring compassion into conversations that can too easily become clinical, transactional, or impersonal.
Curiosity
I want people to leave asking better questions about their health, their assumptions, and the people around them. Curiosity creates room for learning without judgment.
Hope
Hope that can exist alongside uncertainty, grief, and difficult circumstances. My own faith shapes the way I understand resilience, uncertainty, suffering, and the possibility of something beyond what we can immediately explain. But I also recognize that people find hope in many different places.
Empowerment
Information should help people feel more capable, not more overwhelmed. I want others to walk away feeling that they have a voice, that their experiences matter, and that they can take meaningful steps forward.
Presence
Whether I’m in the room with just you or hundreds of people in an auditorium, I want it to feel safe, alive, thoughtful, curious, and genuinely human.

About Sharleen Garcia
My work sits at the intersection of clinical nutrition, psychoneuroimmunology, education, and the lived experience of caring for a body through illness.
I am particularly interested in the people who are often carrying an enormous amount behind the scenes: the student under a lot of pressure, the mother trying to care for herself while caring for everyone else, the caregiver who has forgotten what it feels like to have energy for themselves, and the person who has been living with an illness long enough to know that health is rarely simple or just physical.
I bring a multidisciplinary perspective to these conversations, with the belief that the emotional, spiritual, and physical are rarely isolated.
And I love teaching.
Whether I’m speaking to just you or a room full of hundreds, my goal is the same:
Make complex health science understandable, relevant, and human.

FAQs
Both.
I want people to learn something meaningful and feel something meaningful.
My talks bring together science, clinical nutrition, personal stories, lived experience, and practical ideas with a strong emphasis on human connection.
Psychoneuroimmunology, or PNI, explores the interconnected relationship between psychological processes, the nervous system, endocrine system, and immune system.
I use this framework to help people understand that health is not simply a collection of separate systems. The body is interconnected, and our experiences can matter.
Rather than focusing solely on functional nutrition programs, I am intentionally concentrating my work around speaking, workshops, and meaningful conversations about health and the human experience.
However, on a case by case basis and depending on availability I work with individuals who are appropriate for functional nutrition support, I continue to bring an individualized, whole-person approach.
